If you are looking for a new Bible for your 8-12 year olds, I think I’ve found it for you – NKJV Study Bible for Kids published by Thomas Nelson.  I received a copy of the NKJV Study Bible for Kids from Booklook Bloggers in return for my honest review.NKJV Study Bible for Kids

NKJV Study Bible for Kids is a full Bible in the New Kings James Version. Along with all 66 books of the Bible, it includes book introductions, a dictionary/concordance and multiple articles written just for kids. The NKJV is my favorite version – it should be readable by most fluent readers. The text is written in a 8 point font and it has a ribbon bookmark.

This Bible is printed on colorful pages that let you know right away it’s for kids. Each article has a colored background or border, making it easy to distinguish between the text of the Bible and the articles.

There are no pictures in this Bible – it’s designed for kids who are ready to really start studying their Bible but might need a little help understand what it says. Which is where the study features come in. They are perfect for pre-teen kids!

The features/articles include:

  • Timelines
  • On Location: Maps
  • Spotlight: Stories of the Bible – e.g. God’s Promise to Abraham & Peter Heals a Crippled Beggar
  • Starring Rolls: Profiles on major people of the Bible – e.g. Ezekiel & Matthew
  • Action!: Articles on day-to-day articles that are relevant to kids – e.g. Worship & Selfishness
  • In Focus: Definitions
  • Epic Ideas: Info on must-know topics – e.g. Trust God for Tomorrow & Have You Seen the Light of the World?

I love how the articles are presented. Most of the bigger ones are formatted with READ IT – GET IT – LIVE IT. Read it gives the scriptures the article is referencing. Get it provides a simple explanation of what those scriptures mean. Live it guides the student with how to apply the scriptures to his or her’s own life. It’s important to teach our children how to study the Bible and then live their lives based on what they learn. The NKJV Study Bible for Kids will help you with this!

I’m very impressed with all the topics covered in the study features. There are a wide variety and are written simply to reach the kids. It’s always tying the scriptures back to ‘you’. Kids need it to be relevant and NKJV Study bible for Kids does just that.

I wish this had been available when we were first looking for a Bible for Bug. I was given the hard cover version for review, but I see that Christian Book Distributors also has imitation leather versions available (which I prefer). There are a lot of Bibles out there, but you can’t go wrong with the NKJV Study Bible for Kids!
